  • How much weight will I lose?

All injections with NO committed lifestyle modifications will NOT work. I counsel my patients to realize that obesity is a chronic disease. It takes strict lifestyle changes such as healthy diet and exercise to achieve and maintain your weight goals. Injectable weight loss medications have been shown to lead to reductions of 15-20% of bodyweight with diet and exercise. Most people lose 2-3 lbs per week when consistently following a well regimented program.

  • Are these medications safe?

Yes, these medications are safe and obtained through licensed compounding pharmacies who undergo monitoring by the FDA. There are only a few contraindications for each class of medications. We will review these at your initial consult to make sure you are a good fit.

  • What about side effects?

Side effects happen. The most common are GI in nature including nausea, acid reflux and constipation. There are ways to lessen side effects. We will discuss this at your consult visit.

  • I’ve heard I might lose muscle?

This is possible with any rapid weight loss, however, if you participate in appropriate resistance/strength training, you will not lose lean muscle mass.

  •    Can I use my insurance?

We are cash based only clinic. Most insurance does not cover these medications and they are quite expensive even with insurance. By using a compounding pharmacy, prices are cut by 2/3! From a retail pharmacy, a single month of Wegovy (semaglutide) is over $1500!!

  • Why choose us

Listen, almost every provider is into this weight loss treatment faze. A prescribing medical provider can write you a prescription, direct you to nutritional apps and after you meet your immediate goals, take their hands off. I however, counsel my patients that Obesity is a chronic disorder and needs ongoing specialty care. If your provider is offering it as a quick fix without giving you the necessary long term support and tools, you can be back to square one. My recommendation is to choose a medical provider with a good background about the gut brain disorders and weight loss support. As much as GLP-1 injectables are the best way to achieving weight loss, there are other transnasal, transdermal and oral agents that can solely or adjunctly achieve your goals. For long term goals, having a great GI background is a complement in treating you as a whole. Most of these medications may cause poor GI symptoms that can inhibit your goals, so having a provider that is vastly knowledgeable in treating you safely and beyond your weight loss goal is critical.
